Was absolutely fantastic.
Most of the staff was from Eastern Bloc, I don't mind that, but the typical English character is therefore a bit lost.
The location of the Rhinefield House Hotel was fantastic for walking/cycling through the beautiful New Forest. The hotel itself was beautiful with magnificent grounds - all of which were in excellent order. Having read previous reviews we were not sure what we were going to find, however a recent refurbishment programme has obviously been taking place (and still was in progress in some areas!).
Our initial room allocation was OK - but painting/decoration of the corridors outside was in progress on our arrival. This was not a good welcome - the smell of the paint was horrific and would not have made our brief stay very nice at all. When we asked to be moved this was accommodated with no real problems. It was just a shame to have been put in this position if not necessary in the first place. Air conditioning needs to be looked at carefully in this hotel. The room/s were ridiculously hot (even with the portable unit switched on all night!) and the windows wide open. The heat resulted in sleep not happening easily and when we eventually drifted off we overslept and nearly missed breakfast.
very welcoming and professsional "can do" attitude of the staff. A real pleasurable experience.
It was a lovely hotel and great location
Staff were particularly attentive. Wonderful location and setting.
Prices of the wine were expensive
The staff were an interesting bunch of characters and very polite. The spa was very relaxing. The service was impeccable. They knew who you were throughout your stay which was lovely.
The hotel in general, the staff, facilities, location and food were outstanding. This is the second time we've stayed at Rhinefield House and we've also stayed at or visited 2 others from the "handpicked range".. We would definatley visit this hotel again.
We upgraded to a junior suite and as lovely as it were it needed a major "spruce up" with a duster and polish. There were cob webs in the ceilings, light fittings and coving whilst the bedside lights, tables and tv were thick with dust.
The staff were all really welcoming particularly the chap who ran the lounge bar. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
Only a minor issue but the bacon at breakfast was like rubber. It looked like it had been sitting under lights too long.
Tranquil surroundings/peaceful atmosphere within the hotel/good size well appointed rooms/ imposing building with elegant gardens
Cooked traditional breakfast somewhat meagre and did not appear to be "fresh"/ Dining Room cool - we sat by fireplace
The food was excellent, and the room and lounge/dining areas were all of a very high standard. The only disappointment was that the health club facility was out of commission for two out of our three day stay there, but the manager was gracious enough to provide some compensation for this absence.the staff were all exceptionally helpful and the atmosphere was one of welcome, comfort and 'can do'
Everything from the location, look, facilities, food and ambiance of this hotel are superb. WE had a great time & will be going back soon.
The service was absolutely top class and the a la carte menu was delicious.
Everything about this hotel and the staff were unsurpassed in excellence
Having to leave!
